These dresses are my art. Its so crazy how people think of these ideas in their head and just make it happen. I believe my example matches with Tolstoy definition of art in my opinion. From what I read basically if the creator of the art piece was motivated and inspired to create the piece then it is considered art. I guess you can use his critique definition if you want but personally I don’t agree. Personally Like I said anything can be art now. I believe there shouldn’t be “rules” defining art, art should be whatever you want it to be. Art doesn’t have to please everyone, but maybe just you.
Infectiousness
Individuality; The more feeling the art has the more it affects the person admiring it. When I see these dresses they just bring a smile in my face. Its so pretty and crazy how these dresses look and feel and move.
Clearness; The more clear and simple the art is the more the receiver can understand and express themselves with. These dresses may not be simple or interesting for some people but for me its mind blowing. I see the color and the form and the style and its pretty wonderful to see. Its unique.
Sincerity; From what I’m understanding of sincerity basically if the art was meaningful and deep then anyone can understand it then it is considered art. I may not know if these dresses were made with compassion or hate. From what I can tell these dress were made to impress and they really impressed me and showed me how the human mind is an extraordinary thing. These dresses bring me light and just imagination in my head of crazy ideas. These dresses are pretty meaningful to me.
Quote: “Art, in our society, has been so perverted that not only has bad art come to be considered good, but even the very perception of what art really is has been lost” I like to think this goes with my topic because he realizes that the perception of art is fading. He realizes that art is changing and he doesn’t like it. Art has been changing and will continue to change because change is good and its good to see new ideas come to light.

The Cardi B dress is one of my favorites from that MET Gala. I really like how when testing for sincerity you didn’t just focus on emotions like happiness, sadness, anxiety, etc., but instead you focused on the feeling of impression. I would’ve never thought of something like that when testing for sincerity of emotion. I think that the goal to impress can also connect to the individuality of this art form because the more individual and unique it is, the more someone will be impressed. I also think that although maybe the designer’s want to impress is sincere, Tolstoy wouldn’t agree that the actual art is sincere because they were most likely paid for this and the MET Gala is a huge celebrity event.
